I am a licensed psychologist and a graduate of Antioch University Seattle with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
I have over 15 years experience in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.
My work has given me experience with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have worked with depression, anxiety, addiction, loss and grief, abuse and trauma, and relationship conflict. I have also worked with issues around identity, particularly cultural identity and the challenges that can come from living in and feeling part of multiple cultural contexts.
In our work together, we will be partners in understanding your needs and how to address them so you can live a more satisfying life. You will bring your experience and understanding of your world, and I will bring my education and clinical experience.
I have lived in several different countries and have traveled extensively. This experience has given me the opportunity to learn about both the similarities and the differences of people from different parts of the world. I believe that there are many ways to approach therapeutic healing.
In that spirit, I work using an integrative approach in which we will use the types of therapy that best suit your needs. This will include elements of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and will be strongly influenced by interpersonal neurobiology and polyvagal theory.
I believe that our development as individuals is influenced by the interaction of our biology, our environment, and our own specific way of interpreting our world. Our work will take into account all of these influences.
When I work with couples and families I also focus on what happens between the individuals in the relationship and how that interaction influences the experience of the people in the relationship(s). We will work to remove barriers to understanding and emotional connection. Sometimes therapy that includes multiple participants will require individuals to do their own individual work to get the most benefit from the therapeutic process.
